Refraction Series
Angela Koenig

This trilogy is utterly brilliant! Angela Koenig has written a gripping series of novels following Jeri O’Donnell from the troubles in Ulster, to the Himalayas and onto Yugoslavia when the Balkan war was in full force. Her life is one of violence, tragedy and keeping hidden from those out to capture her. When she meets Kelly Corcoran, an American tourist seeking peace, she finds a love that changes her. Their connection was intense, beautiful and at times frantic and joyful. Can they survive the dangerous life they lead? Is love enough?

The writing was intelligent and poetic and managed to convey a sense of history that pulled me into the story and made me feel as if I was right in the midst of it all. Jeri is a very complex character and her journey is one that I am so glad I followed. The love story woven throughout is deep and vital and one I won’t forget. I highly recommend this trilogy and wish I could give it more than 5 Stars.

The Bee Charmer
Ali Spooner

The Bee Charmer is one of those books to wallow in, to enter a world gone by. Nat is a trader and trapper who finds her life turned upside down when her father dies. She meets beautiful widow Marissa in town and is torn between her love of the wild and her feelings for this woman. Their story and that of their friends is beautifully told, with such wonderfully descriptive writing that made me feel part of a gentler time. It took me back to a time past and I felt as if I could smell the clean air, I could imagine the woods filled with trees and animals . Pioneer life was described in intricate detail and it was fascinating. Nat and Marissa worked hard and made use of everything around them and their ingenuity knew no bounds. I loved reading about their lives and how the pioneers found ways to survive in new lands. Their story was also one of passion and sexual intensity that was quite breath-taking. Ali Spooner caught me off guard too with some surprising moments that I didn't see coming. I adored it and highly recommend 'The Bee Charmer'

Running From Love
Jen Silver

I adored this book. Jen Silver has written a wonderful story of a group of mature women on a golf retreat in Cornwall. Now I must admit I'm not a fan of golf but I was surprised at how addictive she made it seem. Beth and Sam are separated and are shocked to bump into each other there. Professional golfer Andi and her lover Freya are both in the closet and have no intention of leaving it. Along with a diverse group of women they are faced with reality and it's not going away. The setting was beautifully described and made me want to book a week or two there. It is the perfect backdrop for a tale of heartbreak, romance, unrequited love and some very sexy encounters. I couldn't put it down.

The Ultimate Betrayal by Anette Mori

4.5 scandalous stars!

This is the first story I've read by Annette Mori and it won't be the last! It most certainly gave me a lot to ponder. While not everyone will agree with the reactions of the two women scorned, I say don't judge until you've walked a mile in their shoes. And everyone deals with grief and betrayal in different ways.

The story is told in third person and from more then one Point-of-view, something I as an avid reader truly appreciate. ...

The Promise
JM Dragon

I really liked this story. I have never read JM Dragon before so I didn't know what to expect. What I found was a refreshing story of 2 non perfect women. One damaged inside and one damaged outside. An accidental meeting with Melissa Grant, leads to an unexpected offer for Kris Lake, who just lost her job. Refurbishing a beach cottage, with the help of Melissa’s handicapped granddaughter.
Claire Tremont is at a crossroads after a near-death accident changed her life. Clair comes from money. Once a socialite always on the go, she now resorts to hiding from life. The story is about how they brought the best in each other and learned to love.

The Promise
JM Dragon

When Claire’s Grandmother arranges for her to work on a cottage renovation with the rather plain and seemingly uninteresting Kris, she could never imagine just how pivotal this will be in her life. Having survived an horrific car crash she is living a quiet and limited life compared to her previous existence as a famous lesbian about town. Kris has been existing and no more in New York City, in a boring job with no prospects and very little money. With no friends and family who don’t approve of her sexuality, she jumps at the chance to do something different. For each woman life seems to be passing them by and love an unlikely prospect. J M Dragon tells the story of how they come to know each other, how they begin to become the women they were meant to be. The path we end up on doesn’t have to be how we live our lives. With a push and a little mysterious help from a special cottage and a intuitive, kind housekeeper, Shirley, Claire and Kris change. This was a slow-burning love story with an interesting ambience and a few mysteries and secrets that were teased out along the way. I loved how Claire changed from an spoilt rich kid into someone i could really root for. Circumstances made her who she was but she began to realise that she didn’t have to tread that path forever. Kris was so unsure of herself and she really grew as a person and as her confidence grew, Claire began to see a beauty in her. I thought the internal dialogue of the characters throughout the book gave an insight into how they were changing. This book was about finding the person you need and in doing so becoming a better person yourself. It was about seeing past the surface and letting love take over. The two main characters were so right for each other but it took a push and a nudge and a certain enigmatic housekeeper. This was a sweet love story with a twist
