Rori Review
Reece Corbett watches over the dancers in her gentleman’s club with the blue, razor sharp eyes of The Animal. Few know that resting comfortably in her office is her newest love, a tiny MinPin named Smudge. What happened to The Animal, known for her rapacious appetite for women and danger?

Faith Ashford is what happened to The Animal. Faith and Reece have been together a while now and they have settled into something resembling domestic bliss. This bliss alarms Reece. It’s one thing for Faith to see her softer side, that’s vulnerability enough, but to let her friends see it…no. Not the best plan. Under Faith’s guiding, loving hand, will Reece successfully traverse the rocky road of emotion and embrace the positive changes in her life? Or will she panic and be unable to control that Animal part of herself? Will she take that next step to declare herself fully capable of love and devotion?

This third installment in the popular series that began with Private Dancer continues the passionate and often hilarious romance of Reece and Faith as they both grow in love and in trust.
Reese and Faith are back along with their friends Cori and Violent and Faith’s parents, along with a new very wonderful addition to the story, the new puppy, Smudge. If you liked the first two books in the series, you will love this third installment. As usual, TJ liberally douses her books with several laugh out loud moments and steaming sex scenes. In this third book the character development let me get to know more about Reece and Faith, especially Reece and what makes her tick. The very funny and heartwarming introduction of Smudge was what really made it my favorite of the series. There are some very funny scenes with the new puppy and it was wonderful to see the evolution of Reese’s character. Faith evolved as a character as well, but the transformation in Reese’s character as a result of her deep love for Faith made this a book not to miss, especially if you’ve read the first two in the series starting with Private Dancer. If you haven’t, you really should…seriously!
Normally I am not one to gravitate to erotica over more traditional romance with just a few sex scenes, but it’s nice to read it for a change especially when it is handled well, and revolves around a story, instead of just being the story. That’s what made this such a wonderful book, it’s steamy erotica wrapped around a darn good story. I highly recommend reading the first two books, Private Dancer followed by Reece’s Faith, before this last book because it gives you background into the main characters which I think is necessary to truly understand the transformation. And you really wouldn’t want to miss out on TJ’s humor! Thumbs up on this book it has a little bit for everyone, including several laugh out loud scenes.

Reece's Star by TJ Vertigo
Erotica, Romance

This third installment in the popular series that began with Private Dancer continues the passionate and often hilarious romance of Reece and Faith as they both grow in love and in trust. Faith and Reece have been together a while now and they have settled into something resembling domestic bliss. This bliss alarms Reece. It's one thing for Faith to see her softer side, that's vulnerability enough, but to let her friends see it…no. Not the best plan. Under Faith's guiding, loving hand, will Reece successfully traverse the rocky road of emotion and embrace the positive changes in her life? Or will she panic and be unable to control that Animal part of herself? Will she take that next step to declare herself fully capable of love and devotion?

You don't have to read the first two books in this trilogy, "Reece's Star" can stand on its own, though, it would be helpful to read "Reece's Faith" in order to fully appreciate the character growth.
"Reece's Star" is a time capsule, it's a look back to the turn of the century in New York City. The 90's are over, being a lesbian isn't quite so shocking. There are no laws or rights in place and being out might ruin your career. I enjoyed this aspect of the story, the reminder of where we were and how far we have come in just a decade. "Wassssuuupppp" is annoying and always will be.
TJ Vertigo is talented. I believe she pens a love letter to the places and people of her city. She doesn't just tell us about two women forming a lasting relationship. She shows us the growth in understanding and trust forming between the two of them through sex, the most vulnerable, intimate and passionate moments in a relationship. Dear Reader, if you are likely to page through the sex scenes, you will miss much. These scenes serve a purpose. They are messy, bawdy, raw and honest; Reece only knows one way to express her feelings of love. Her lover, Faith, teaches her to communicate through conversation while Reece shows Faith how to physically communicate her feelings. The characters of Reece and Faith are well established as are the secondary characters. Even the minor characters are crafted with care. The humor comes naturally from honest character interaction. She writes in such a way that the reader feels engaged and part of the story.
This is a sexy, hot book. It has a solid plot and full well established characters. There is drama and humor, love and passion.
